"Sue has extensive experience of bereavement counselling from her many years as a volunteer at Cruse Bereavement Support. As her supervisor I saw her work with a wide variety of clients, supporting and helping them find their way through their grief. She always showed compassion and empathy for the people she worked with and I also witnessed significant changes in how they were feeling by the end of their work with Sue. I recommend her with confidence as a bereavement counsellor with extensive experience and skill"

I am a specialist bereavement counsellor who has worked for many years with clients experiencing a wide range of issues in many different circumstances. My approach is warm and compassionate which helps clients to find their way through their grieving process. I worked for twenty years with the UK's leading bereavement organisation, Cruse Bereavement Support, I now work part time with private clients. My work has helped clients experiencing the effects of loss and grief in many different circumstances both recent and historic. I find the work inspirational and fulfilling.

My approach to counselling is a person-centred one which revolves around creating a safe and empathetic environment where clients feel understood and supported. I attained Level 5 Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling twenty years ago and I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Working with very many clients, over many years, on their journey through their grieving process has been a privilege. It's been a long and winding road that brings me to the Alma Vale Centre as a specialist bereavement counsellor. I started out in a business career as a branch manager and progressed to head up the UK operation of a multinational employment agency. I then moved into the healthcare sector as a Managing Director.

In 2002 I started my training as a volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support. I felt I had found my calling and continued training to Level 5 Professional Diploma at Bristol City College. I worked supporting bereaved clients for the next twenty years and I find the work inspirational and fulfilling. Then in 2023, due to ill health, I took a break. Fortunately I am now recovered and offering bereavement counselling at the Alma Vale Centre on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I have worked with clients experiencing the effects of loss and grief in many different circumstances and supported clients from all walks of life. I have a wide range of experience working with loss and grief both recent and historic.

My work is predominantly person centred and I have been described as warm and compassionate . My aim is to help clients to find their way through aspects of their grief which they are experiencing as difficult. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. When I'm not working my time revolves around family, friends and my small dog
